Quality

Quality and systematic working methods guide everything we do. We are committed to continuous process development and to maintaining our team’s professional skills, delivering reliable and repeatable processes that meet customer quality requirements. Our ISO 9001 quality certification and ISO 14001 environmental certification demonstrate our long-term commitment to structured development and responsible operations.

KL Mechanics also holds the AQAP 2110 certificate, reflecting compliance with NATO quality assurance requirements for production. AQAP 2110 sets strict standards for production planning, process control, traceability, documentation and supplier management applicable to defence and safety-critical supply chains. This certification demonstrates our ability to meet stringent contractual and regulatory demands, ensures rigorous quality control and independent auditability, and gives customers confidence in our capability to deliver reliable components for high-integrity applications.

Sustainability at KL Mechanics

Precision is a discipline. So is responsibility.

For three decades, KL Mechanics has built its reputation on precision, reliability and continuous improvement. We apply the same principles to how we manage our environmental impact, support our people and conduct our business.

KL Mechanics supports the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact covering human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption. We are committed to integrating these principles into our strategy, culture and day-to-day operations and to reporting publicly on our progress.

Responsible manufacturing

Precision manufacturing requires energy and materials. Our responsibility is to understand those impacts and systematically reduce them.

Energy and climate: Energy efficiency is considered in our capital investments. We measure our greenhouse gas emissions and are extending our understanding of emissions across our value chain.

Materials and circularity: Precision machining generates metal swarf and other production waste, making responsible material management an important part of our operations. We segregate metal swarf by alloy to enable efficient recycling and work to maximise material utilisation and reduce waste throughout our production processes.

Chemicals and compliance: We work in accordance with applicable environmental and chemical requirements, including REACH and RoHS requirements. Substance declarations are available to customers on request.

These priorities reflect our wider commitment to reducing energy consumption and emissions, improving resource efficiency and promoting recycling and circularity.

People, safety and skills

KL Mechanics employs around 130 people across two sites in the Oulu region. Developing and retaining skilled people is fundamental to our ability to manufacture demanding precision components.

Safety comes first: nothing justifies an unsafe act. We invest in continuous professional development and technical skills and work with regional educational partners to support apprenticeships and the development of future manufacturing expertise.

We respect freedom of association and applicable Finnish collective agreements and prohibit forced labour, child labour and discrimination. Recruitment and professional development are based on capability.

Responsible business

Responsible business requires clear standards and accountability.

Sustainability is managed at leadership level and forms part of our governance and reporting to our Board and owner, Karnell Group AB. We maintain zero tolerance for bribery and improper influence, protect customer intellectual property and personal data, and extend our expectations for responsible business through our supply chain.

Concerns about potential misconduct can be reported through Karnell's whistleblowing system, including anonymously. Retaliation against anyone reporting concerns in good faith is prohibited, and qualifying cases are handled independently from day-to-day operations or by external counsel where required.

Transparency and continuous improvement

Our sustainability management is independently assessed through EcoVadis, and customers can request access to our current scorecard. We have also committed to reporting our progress annually through the United Nations Global Compact Communication on Progress, beginning in accordance with the initiative's reporting requirements.

We will continue to develop our sustainability targets, measurement and reporting as part of our approach to continuous improvement.
